Fic Recs: H/D Smoochfest

It's been awhile, dear friends; I am very well but SLAMMED with work and all the other things. I always take on too much, and then my procrastination and lack of self-discipline kill my forward progress. For instance this week, I had Monday to get some work and volunteer stuff done, and instead I f***ed around and read LJ and went to lunch with a client, and pretty soon got nothing done. I'll be catching up all week, dagnabbit. I think I may be getting too old to change, too.  Life is rough when you create your own stress.

So... I come bearing recs. I haven't read very many Smoochfest fics yet, and hope to eventually get to all of them, but these were good and I hope you enjoy them, too. Let me know if I'm missing one that you liked.

Edited July 13 to add authors after the reveals...

Title: Seawater Tea
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lmeden
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Summary: It is their last assignment as Trainee Aurors and the only time they will have to work together (Draco hopes), but then the storm arrives, and Draco’s life gets much more complicated.
Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: All Harry Potter characters herein are the property of J.K. Rowling and Bloomsbury/Scholastic. No copyright infringement is intended.
Warning(s): none in particular
Epilogue compliant? Nope.
Word Count: ~26,000

MY WORDS: I just finished reading this one, and it's the main reason I'm reccing stuff right now.  I hope more people read this one, because it was delightful.  Epic weather brings two very prickly young men together despite all their attempts to mess things up.  Draco is heartbreakingly vulnerable and young and brave and frustrating in this one, and Harry is truly his rescuer and rescuee, in more ways than one.  The super sensual sex scenes will not disappoint anyone.  Go read!

Title: Salt on the Western Wind
Author: [livejournal.com profile] saras_girl
Pairing(s):
 Harry/Draco, Ron/Hermione, implied past Harry/Ginny as per canon.
Summary: When the war isn’t quite as over as it first appears, a guilt-ridden Harry is sent to a mysterious safe-house. Among sandwiches, insomnia, and Mills & Boon, he discovers something quite unexpected.
Rating: R

Warning(s): None, really. A couple of original characters and some Muggle technology :)
Epilogue compliant? No. This story literally picks up where the main part of DH ends.
Word Count: 60,500

MY WORDS: This is pretty much what I was reading when I was procrastinating on Monday.  You probably don't need me to rec this great fic that opened the fest, as it's pushing 100 comments.  It's got some plot devices that we are all familiar with, but there's a reason they are popular, 'cause we love them, and when they are this well-written, who cares?

Title: Project (or Curse?)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] envy_venis
Pairing(s):
 Harry/Draco (obviously), and mention of Draco/Theo.
Summary: In order to build trust and inter-house unity, the Ministry School Board has designed an obligatory N.E.W.T. project for the eighth year students. Paired off, each team will be assigned a Charmed puffskein and required to share a room with their “families” throughout the term. If they all sur

vive that long.
Rating: NC-17

Warning(s): None
Epilogue compliant? Disregards epilogue, takes place during 8th year at Hogwarts.
Word Count: 21,000 (I’m so sorry)

MY WORDS: In the great tradition of 8th year fics, this one has all the right elements, with a large cast of extremely well-drawn characters, great humor, and a Draco who is entirely believable in his horror at the inevitability of his attraction to Harry.  Many, many brilliant elements in this fun fic.

Title: Domestic
Author: [livejournal.com profile] frostywonder
Pairing(s):
 Harry/Draco, mentions Ron/Hermione
Summary: Harry finds a stray and decides to take him home.
Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: All Harry Potter characters herein are the property of J.K. Rowling and Bloomsbury/Scholastic. No copyright infringement is intended.
Warning(s): None
Epilogue compliant? Nope
Word Count: ~55,000
Author's Notes: This took longer than it should have; it's not much and it's unoriginal at that, but I am unaccustomed to this concept called a "due date." Dreadful thing, if you ask me, but my sincere, if amused, apologies to the poor Mods whom were kind enough not to kick me out of the fest despite the delays. Anyway, me being the slow writer that I am, this story ends in a rather abrupt spot as I had no intention of ending it there but nonetheless had to due to time constraints. A few "firsts" that I had wanted to include sadly became glossed over for similar reasons. Yet awkwardly finished and clichéd though it is, I hope Prompter Anon finds it at least mildly enjoyable. :D

MY (FINAL) WORDS:  Just look at those author's notes, I mean, I ask you.  "Self-deprecating" only begins to cover it.  Well, my good news for you is that the modesty is unwarranted and the fic is very, very good, and so very, very funny and adorable.  It is destined for fanfic infamy as the "knickers" fic.  Don't miss this one.
