Having just been, for the first time, on the other side of the commenting equation, I am IMMENSELY grateful to those who reach out and give encouragement by leaving a comment on fic. It's given me a renewed appreciation for what we ALL give here, and for the way we all create fandom whatever our role.
It's illuminating to look at things from a new perspective; I sometimes, as a commenter, hesitated to write anything if I was a stranger to the author, worried, I suppose, that they'd think it was weird or stalkerish. Now that seems so stupid, knowing what a thrill it is that someone who didn't even HAVE to comment took the time to do so. *smooshes and glomps all commenters ever*
